Grand Central Market kicks off the holiday season with its Fifth Annual Holiday Marketplace featuring a pop-up village of local artisans and purveyors.
From 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., retail and culinary pop-ups will transform the Market’s Hill Street platform into a festive emporium for gracious holiday gift shopping with participants including Bad Pickle Tees, Billy Kheel, Birch & Bone, Brown Bag Books, DTLA Gift Shop, Ink + Smog Editions, Los Angeles County Store, MADE by DWC, M.Greenwood Jams, and YA Living. Market vendors will get into the holiday spirit with seasonal specials such as Tamales from Chiles Secos, Butternut Winter Clam Chowder at Prawn, Raclette at DTLA Cheese, and Reindeer Tracks Sundae at McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams.
A popular feature of last year’s Marketplace returns with Birch and Bone’s wreath-making pop-up with trendsetting floral artist Amelia Posada. Posada will be on hand to create Instagram-worthy wreaths that shoppers can customize with elements such as succulents, moss, feathers and antlers.
Throughout the day, the Market will also play host to a number of special musical guests including Mexican bolero trio Tres Souls, Afro-Cuban dance music ensemble Sitara Son, Klezmer Juice, jazz vocalist Teira Church, swing band HiFi Honeydrops, and holiuday carolers. On both Saturday and Sunday the Market will host a meet-and-greet with Santa Claus from 1 – 3 p.m. and ornament making with Little Junebugs from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m
