Reopening Update and Regulations for Businesses

Today, Friday, May 29th Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that beginning tomorrow, Saturday, May 30th, 2020, hair salons, barbershops, and in-person dining are allowed to open.

Physical distance measures must be in place for in-person dining. Employees and customers must be screened for symptoms. Outdoor seating and curbside pickup should be prioritized. Reservations are encouraged, and customers should wait outside until called. Face coverings should be worn at all times unless eating. Bar areas must remain closed, and occupancy is limited to 60%.

Hair Salons and Barbershops must have physical distancing measures in place. Employees and customers must be screened for symptoms. Face coverings are required for everyone. No magazine, coffee, or other amenities should be provided. Contactless payment methods are highly encouraged, and stylists can only serve one client at a time.

To aid restaurants in their reopening phases, Mayor Garcetti and the Los Angeles City Council have launched the LA Al Fresco program. This will facilitate restaurants who are having trouble meeting re-opening protocols. Additionally, restaurants may apply for expanded outdoor seating for your restaurant. Still closed are gyms/fitness centers, bars/nightclubs, beach piers, entertainment venues, galleries, indoor museums, and zoos.
